Dear RE,

I have been following,w/great interest,your dome building

projects. How do they hold up in high winds and rain…we

are having some very strong storms in the area where I am

living?

Yrs ago,I made a Tipi (from scratch)…sewed in on my sewing

machine…made it 2/3’s scale of avg TIPI. While camping in

it…a tornado came thru….all the store tents, campers, etc were

blown over…the leaning cone/TIPI survived nicely and I was

able to walk out of it,w/a cup of steaming coffee, to the

astonishment of other campers in the primitive camp area…

who had made such fun of the tipi when we arrived at our camp

site…they even thought we brought our own fire wood; the lodge

poles on top of the van we had to use to transport the poles…

we did have firewood inside of the van!  A great experience

for my son…who learned to, “chop wood and carry water”, as

the saying goes.

Do the domes hold up as well in high winds and pounding

rain???

We too,had curious people who wanted to see the TIPI…both

inside and out….we made it more beautiful by attaching wide and long ribbons, the colors of the rainbow,to the tips of the lodge poles…it was a fun project…many fond memories of it’s con-

struction and use. Camped in it….all seasons…including cold

and snow….could heat water inside and take sponge baths.

My nephew(a twin & an artist) is moving to Seatle,WA…next

week…leaving Kansas City,MO.

Red Elk replies:

I too have Fond Memories of my 5 Tipis.  Had 6 but last SO BIG (28 ft.) I couldn’t “lock” the poles before wind (“REGULAR” WIND HERE) Knocked ‘em down and broke most.  Sold it last summer.  I LOVE ‘EM!  BUT hauling those POLES are a BIG HASSLE!  And to LUG ‘EM IN to a secluded spot….FORGET IT!

I’d never go LESS then a 16′ or BIGGER then 22′.  16’ easiest and can easily handle 3 people.  18′ kinda “Super” but you’re getting into pole hassles…(I LIKE VERY LONG POLES).

In my 16’ we once had 22 people, doing a Sing Sing.  Firepit going AND ALL OUR (6) One Week’s gear. HAD a BALL!

The other problem (as you know) is it’s a PEOPLE “DRAWER”.  Aho?

Certainly NOT “stealth”.

Then too…the skin SLOPE!  STEALS from Walk-About room.

A Tipi’s “room” is WHEN YOU SIT (next to “skin”).   Aho?

Many Tipi owners do NOT know how to set them up Properly.  YOU MUST NOT have the skin TOUCH THE GROUND.  Up the poles about 2 to 5 inches.  Many TOO do NOT use an INNER LINER (“wall”).  Thus their Tipis are COLD.  Even WITH “tacked” TIGHT to the ground.  That INNER LINER has 3 functions :  Outside wind / air hits its Backside…then the Fire’s HEAT “catches” it…creating a CHIMNEY EFFECT.  Clears the smoke at Fire-Start time VERY FAST.  Any NOT HAVING A LINER is just darn STUPID!

It STOPS Inner Shadows against the skin.  Better PRIVACY as well as Harder to find a human TARGET when shooting INTO the Tipi.

It ALSO HELPS INSULATE.

I stuffed mine with Boughs and Dead Weeds and Straw, in winter.  Adding to the INSULATION.  SMELLED GREAT in was “comfy” inside in HIGHER Low teens.  AFTER the cold gets LOWER…I used ANOTHER, TALLER, “Liner” put on / around OUTSIDE the Tipi “proper”.

This 3 to 4 feet from Tipi skin and TOO “Packed” with insulating material.

In this set-up I spent 2 full HARD WINTERS.  Got to 42 degrees BELOW 0 in second.

I’d let the fire go out…but have QUICK FIRE MATERIAL next to it for morning starting.  Then crawled into LOTS of BLANKETS and CALL MY MALAMUTE!  He HATED the bed’s HEAT, so would end sleeping next to me on TOP of the blankets.

I LOVE “MUTES!”  BIG (110 + lbs.).  GREAT COMPANIONS…almost NEVER Howl / Bark (don’t draw attention)…Size SCARES “enemies”…eat VERY LITTLE (a Cocker Spaniel easily out-eats ‘em)…can PULL and can PACK….PLUS are GREAT “Bed Warmers”!

I do NOT TRUST ANY WITH “light” “blue” EYE(s).  TOO UNTRUSTWORTHY (in general) around kids / people / other dogs I’ve found.

I do NOT care for the SMALLER Malamutes.  TOO MUCH LIKE A HUSKY.  High “WIRED”!  No, give me the milder BIG ONES.

I “FIX” ALL MINE.  Less “wandering” (males) and DONT DRAW WOLVES / COYOTES (females), or cause Fights.

Learned to carry a Heavy CHAIN to “LAY” (not SLAP) on dogs backs when fights occurred.  They RARELY Fight, but when they DO…it’s for MORE then “BLOOD”…its for MURDER!  They LIVE for a “GOOD SCAP”.  Don’t LOOK for it but if it comes : “HOT DAMN! FIGHT! FIGHT!”  Aho.

A BIG mistake to “wade in”.  YOU TAKE YOUR CHANCES.  In that mode, they are WILD WOLVES!

Still, having had MANY MANY Breeds of dogs over my years, LARGE MALAMUTES are WAY ABOVE the TOP OF MY LIST as CAMP and HOME Dogs.

Now…back to Tipis :  I too have  built a number (to sell).  I do NOT at ALL, care for the TIPS OF THE SMOKE FLAPS that “cup” the flap(s) up.  THEY WEAR THROUGH!  Next thing you know, that VERY IMPORTANT FEATURE (flap)  starts SLIDEING DOWN THE POLE!

UGLY and making the flap(s) near useless.  No, I GO FOR A STRONG LOOP UP THERE!  A “cross” piece of wood on the Flap Pole(s) stops THAT!  NEVER HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THIS WAY……LOTS with the “cup”.  Aho?

DOOR should be TWO.  A WIDER one INSIDE and draped (like the other)…OUTSIDE at base.  I USE BOTH IN WINTER Snows!  (I’ve had 3 times a SINGLE has PUSHED IN AT BASE with snow.  Had to DIG OUT!

Also, SWITCH in summer and use the INNER Big One as a “Porch Roof”.  Regular one as door.  Aho?

I also advocate CROSSing WILLOWS (etc) at INSIDE Liner.  No liner “puffing” and LOOKS GOOD!

That “puffing” takes away from Setting / Sleeping room.

There are Other features I had OR WILL HAVE (if I get another).

It’s not likely I Will get another tho.  Gone to “Cockroach shelled” DOMES.

Before I get into them, tho….Tipis are STILL SO TALL they DO CATCH WIND!  Shape or not…they DO.  Aho?

Now, DOMES:  I do NOT LIKE DOMES YOU CAN BUY / or get as KITS!  Not at ALL!

ALL of these SLOPE IN at base.  Like a BALL cut (halved) just below center.  TOO HIGH AT THE BASE!

SUPER WINDS CAN CAUSE THEM TO ROLL OVER!

Either BERM that base to “cockroach body” it, or, as I : BUILD your own.

Of my 3, 2 are ON GROUND (and TOO HIGH (as far as I’m concerned)).   One is being bermed now.  The other I intend to.

The other is built INTO the ground…AND STILL BEING BERMED!

I say “cockroach”…meaning OBLONG and LOW!

This causes winds to FLOW OVER…not SLAM OVER.

Until the edging of MY domes are WELL-LOCKED DOWN (by berming) you DO have BIG Problems with WIND.  CATCHES THE BOTTOM EDGES and off comes the cover!

ONCE “LOCKED DOWN” Tho…THESE ARE BETTER THEN A TIPI !

As mine, you can build a STRAIGHT Wall (no room-stealing SLOPE)  ABOVE the wall the DOME “sloping” starts…yet PLENTY TALL ENOUGH to STAND FULLY IN.  Even 6′ plus tall people.

BUT…the DISADVANTAGE of a Dome over a Tipi…..your dome is THERE!  “Permanent”.  Tipis, despite the poles, ARE MOVEABLE.

So, Pros and Cons of both.  Aho?

I will say this tho…a dome (such as mine) gives FAR MORE INTERIOR LEEWAY then does a Tipi.

I will be experimenting with PERMANENT Dome FRAMES, this summer.  Put several up…A cover that can cover each.  ONE Cover… MANY hidden FRAMES.  Aho? FRAMES are PERMANENT but you CAN MOVE TO ANOTHER cause YOU have THE (only) Cover!  Aho?

So, sister, take your pick…or simply learn how to make a 4 SEASON Lean-To.   GB    re

(WS)

My Domes are fun.  Permanent or Semi-Permanent.  I’m having a lot of fun doing ‘em….but THEY TAKE TIME.  So got to thinking:  WHY NOT BUILD “TAKE IN / OUT  C O V E R”.  PREbuild the wanted “cabin” SHAPE (willow?) and LEAVE THE FRAME THERE.  Simply carry in the (tarp) covering when you’re going “camping”.  Either bury (in a rodent / water proof) container…the cover and carry in / out only a SHOVEL!

Yes, a TENT can “fill your needs” … MAYBE!

Ever try to lug a BIG TENT?

This way you can PRE-BUILD , E X A C T L Y, (within reason) WHAT YOU WANT to be using.

YOU might need more then One cover (OVERLAPPING WELL) but even that won’t be as hard as lugging in a BIG Tent.

Think I’ll try just this in the small forested area on this property.  See how it works out.  (I had 5 Tipis down there…AND TRESPASSERS:  “just looking”). Aho?    re

The Domes

My NA Friends and 2 young daughters came. Couldn’t spend the night tho.  A lot of “tellings” told to all…kids included.  Then went to domes to see.  Adam’s (#2) 1st.  Had had no time to make ANY presentable BUT  DIDNT MATTER!  All 4 LOVED it in its SIMPLICITY.  Then to the original (#1)…..THEY…ALL 4 OF ‘EM…”WANT THIS!!!”.  The girls jumping on the bed and stretching out….Mom and Dad taking “note” of its “how”.  SERIOUSLY “Checking it out”!

“NOW for LAND!  We can make this pretty easily…or a 2 – 3 cluster of ‘em.  Bedroom for the girls and one for us and a main “Family Room”…AND have plenty of room for visitors.  THIS is REALLY NICE!  And its so WARM!”  (no fire / overcast day).

Left talking about it and #2 as Bedrooms.

On #2 they noted the “Sweat Lodge” type making and were seeing the “IGLOO DOORWAY!”

All do “sweats” and make ‘em, so this is not at all unfamiliar to them.  All 4 build their ‘sweats’.

I was surprised to see in #2 THAT One or Two of the Upright willows WERE REJUVENATING AND PRODUCING LEAVES!   The SMELL was WONDERFUL inside!  Real “Outdoorsy”!   HOPE MORE DO THE SAME!  Hope ALL do!  Make for clean odor, Extra insulation…and UNIQUENESS!  Talk about DIFFERENT as a “Home” Interior!   ( :

I have built a 2 man sweat with Leaved Willows, but wasn’t expecting THIS!

Then to SKYDOME.  Tho only Framing up, they all “saw” ITS HUGE SIZE and was no problem visualizing ITS “GREAT LIVABILITY!”

They are going to try to come again next month and see THIS one, Done.

They are “paring down” on their UN-needed “needs”.  See the BENEFIT on living on / with “far Less = Far EASIER” life style.  Even the KIDS!

We CAN “GO BACK!”  And teach others of us (NA) this “way” of Old Ones’ SIMPLICITY.  (This a quote, too).

A lot of Old NA “survival” teaching as well.  Snares / Traps / Wild food “ways”…AND (natch) Bible.

Ii KNOW they had a GREAT TIME!    WIDE OPEN TO TRUE NEEDS and LIVING MORE “Naturally” (quote).   PTL!   GB   re

Skydome Report

ALL Uprights now up.  This thing is HUGE!  As wide as my Fancy #1 dome is LONG  (18 ft.)…and 6 FULL STEPS long (3 ft per step=18 too ??).  Gotta get a tape on it though, to get an accurate measurement.  Anyway, a “PARTY SHACK”!  Too wide to meet the side uprights so will need to “sleeve” with larger pvc.  That means $$ needed.  sigh.  Might need to Prop Up at top too.  Just to be SURE it will take a snowload. Probably be wise to do so.  Don’t want all THIS work to go to pot!  ( :

Trouble though….I can’t build closer then 10 ft from the Freeway Elk Fence….THINK I’m 9 FEET!  Again, gotta get a Tape on this.  sigh

Sky changed his mind on Cross Ventilation end window.  Think I’ll put a SMALL one in though…as an excellent idea.  Help keep inner condensation at bay.  Aho?

There will be a tall(ish) CLOSET in this one.  On the side up to the bed ledge.  That ledge will be 3 to 4 steps up.  A natural ledge above main floor area.

Finally ran out of strapping tape.  Can’t do side willows (horizontals) ‘til I get my SS $$ or a donation comes in.  Wednesday, at the latest.  I bought a 3 ft. wide roll of carpet (new) at a yard sale for a buck.  No WAY big enough to rug the floor, but WILL cover the Bed Ledge Steps. Anyway, use it somewhere.  Will keep my eyes open for a HUGE section.  Sky wants the main floor rugged.  OK by me…as this is more a HOUSE then EITHER of the other 2 domes!  God Willing, This will be a HECK OF AN ABODE!  Shoot… I may MOVE IN!  big  Big  BIG!  HUGE “BIG”!     I WANT it to look SHARP!  Sky does too.

So far its mostly me doing (again).  GOTTA TEAR HIM AWAY FROM HIS DANG VIDEO GAMES…AND his USELESS Free-Loading Buddies!  Grrrrr

Got him out to see what’s done so far.  He “Freaked”!  “I BET THE WHOLE  S  C  H  O  O  L  CAN FIT IN HERE, GRANDPA!  ALL OF ‘EM!”  ( :

OK, that’s it for now.  GB    re

Sky & Sky Dome

SkyDome comeing right along.  BEAUTIFUL DAY to “DO”.  Thing is, I’m doing the Uprights nearly alone.  Sky and “helper” help (HA!) a TINY BIT and are STILL here playing @$#!!! Video Games.

Does have it’s Good Side tho….no griping and “huffing” to listen to as I do the PVC Uprights.  Several in already…AND a ROUND WINDOW FRAME (Hula Hoop)!

Even the PVC and Conduit pipes were GIVEN, MANY years ago!  My cost so far: STRAPPING TAPE…and THAT roll bought 2-3 Xmases ago.  Using THIS instead of string Ties.  GOING UP FAST so far.  About 3 1/2 10s done all around.

Uprights are Easy…getting ‘em connected at top will be another matter.   This dome is more an oval then round….that’s why it will be difficult.

OK, dragged the boys out. Sought Sky’s advice to make SURE his design is being met.  So far so good.

Back in from #2 dome.  Marshmallow roast and more laughter.  Seems kids are only interested in DVD Games and FOOD!  ( :

I’m getting better at these domes.  Fast and more PERMANENT.  The use of pvc is great and would sure go that route in the future…IF I didn’t have to BUY the stuff!   Won’t rot/bends rightly.  Fast!

The HORIZONTALS are still Willow.  Looks good and easy to get.  Holds the whole structure tight together.  Being INSIDE the tarp cover they won’t rot either.  Aho?

I’ve learned to NOT “shovel” dig the upright holes, too.  Pound in a Garden Trowel.  Then deeper with a stout “stick”.  This keeps the holes deep and VERY tight….RIGHT OFF! Shovel makes these holes to much trouble to “toughen up”.  Aho?

OK, enough for now.  GB    re

Life is Changing

Today I received a call from a Native American man/wife.  They are having a very rough time….he’s on 1 year probation and on Work Release.  Due to Tribal “Law”, he has just lost his job  (not being of THAT tribe). “Tribal People need the work…sorry”. Living on THAT Tribes land…now “We need the place for our people”.
This is life, being Indian.
“NOW WHAT!”????
Can’t afford to move to THEIR Distant people.
REALLY “Up The Creek”.  Aho?
We talked over options.  All the LOGICAL ones just not possible.  Just NOT!!!  So, what is left?  NOMADIC.
Not “HOMELESS”….NOMADIC.   They and their 8 and 10 year old daughters.
It IS Feasible…though he (they) must stay in this State till probation time is completed.
“What about school?”  HOME SCHOOL and using SAM CLUB as your mailing address.
“What about our truck?  It’s always in need of repair…and GAS!”   Sell it.  Buy bikes or foot scooters.
“Where will we Live?  Our “Home?”   Your ancestors had no problem with that. Even a large Tarp…as a Lean-To, will do, even in winter.
“Warm CLOTHING?!   I’ve lived in winters in regular street clothes STUFFED WITH LEAVES to insulate.  Bed of  blankets…stuffed too, sleeping bag fashion, on top of a thick pile of tree brows and leaves and dead weeds.  Live through a severe BLIZZARD in this  alone.  Quite warm and snug too.
We discussed Horse use (they have one).   Best you sell her and use the money to buy goats.  They can pull, Great ‘food finding’ , can give milk, quiet, smart, AND pull.  Also can FIGHT!  Bears, etc..  Dogs draw attention and need YOU to get food.  There will be times YOU need the food.
Another option is a rather large canoe or row/sail boat.  ‘River live’….and yes, even in winter. Pull ashore and build a survival hut.  Generally a lot of firewood around the shores.  Anyway, an option.
“We know SOME things about wild-crafting…but not much.”   Yes, I know. You Native American have lost so much to the invaders.  Now use those same people to teach YOU.  Study on Internet…Library…Good Will cheap books , etc..  “Survival Living”  “Make a Survival Shelter”….”Wild Edible Plants”….”Healing Plants”.  There’s LOTS out there.  You may not end up doing this style living…The Creator has “ways” only He knows, but, just in case…………..
The thing is, YOU’RE DARN LATE ON LEARNING THESE THINGS!  Told you BOTH, LONG AGO, to Prepare.  (“We know”)…still, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!   Almost TO LATE!
And DON’T forget getting a FIRST AID Book!  THAT should STAY WITH YOU!
Readers, this is NOT a FABRICATED TELLING.  It has Just TAKEN PLACE!
Now, HOW PREPARED are  Y  O  U  !!!?

Very special thanks to Adam for sending me these pictures to share with everyone!

ZZ Stove in action!

I would like to comment on the New dome pictures just put up on the (“my”) Blog.
This is #2 dome.  The framing done by my 14 year old grandson and Adam (44 years old I think).  I basically supervised. It took them only 4 hours to put together.
The top picture doesn’t look like much, but is the BASIC Start of SKY’S Dome (grandson).  To HIS design.  Very “rough” start….and always changeable.  (Already HAS).
“I’m” doing HIS “way”…so he can learn (mistakes and all).  Doesn’t matter…its “HIS”.  He’ll have Pride of Accomplishment.   Aho?
If a just-turned-14 yr. old can do such a structure, most ANYONE can.

In this photo you can see PVC and CONDUIT Piping.  Literally SALVAGE.  What I / We HAVE ON HAND.  Aho?
Willow will be incorporated too.  FREE from our areas’ creek banks and farmers fields.
As I write this, a buddy of his has come for the weekend (18 yrs old) to help / learn.
As you can see in this and following pics, all domes are Quite “In – The – Open”.  Between I-90 Freeway and our rural rd.
This is deliberate.  To “catch the eye” of passers-by.    HAS, too!
I’m building to SHOW what CAN BE DONE…on “next to nothing”.
I intend to build an “Un-see-able” one at a later date.  Camouflaged as a pile of WOOD.  Old branches / etc. hiding it…as “forest Tree Cutting Cast-Offs”.  Aho?
These are “HOMES”.  Homes of our PAST and homes OF OUR FUTURE.  (IF we continue on the path the world is still / now on).
A number of these pics are “redundant”.  Won’t be on others.  Aho?
On #2 dome, it seems “odd shaped”.  IS!  The FREE Hay Tarp over also covers a Back “corner” EXTENDED “alcove”.  That added to this dome frame to get inside things (luggage / back packs / cut wood / food container) out of the small Inner flooring.  Might LOOK strange, but a reason for it.  Aho?
YOU TOO can “Add”.
Willow is VERY VERSATILE.
In one or two pics you can see #1 dome (recently called “The DELUXE Model” by a sightseer) as well as the framing of #2.
#2 dome has BLANKETS (free) as insulation.

#1 has none (intend to cover fully with earth and sod).
I went “whole hog” on #1.  It has cost $350.00 “to the penny”.  #2…10 CENTS!  (we are now adding to this.  “Fancying” inside).  Perhaps to as much as $50.00.
IN THE “AFTER” Future…..NONE will be “fancy”.  ALL will be EXTREMELY BASIC.  A Frame, a Cover.  That’s IT.
I’m aware not all have Willows available.  That’s when a builder must “SEE” other building materials.  STONE huts….DUG Outs…etc.
Caves?  EVER TRY ONE?  DARN COLD in winter and DARN SMOKY with a fire.  But better then nothing, though.  People of the distant  past used them, as well as in various “recent” wars.  Aho?
OK, enjoy.  Maybe get inspired?       Creator Bless.

This family KNOWS Poverty.  11 yrs. of it….REAL Poverty!  Living in a condemned “NOT FIT FOR HUMAN OCCUPANCY” sign on it…WAY off in the woods.

NO Welfare.  No Food Stamps.  A young daughter.
At first it was HARD!  Note: “at FIRST”.
I was quite capable of working, yet a WALK of 2 1/2 miles to a road to HITCHHIKE on.  Hard to get a job with no reliable transportation.
Within a 5 mile radius a number of neighbors would have me fix fence / cut grass / weeds, paint / etc.  Enough to get MINIMAL needs.
NATURE and KNOWLEDGE provided the rest.
At first it was DARN Hard.  Miserable, really.  PRIDE KILLER!
And then, one day, as I strolled the forest, praying….I came to the conclusion “I’m Poor…I MIGHT AS WELL ENJOY IT!”
THAT REALIZATION and STATEMENT CHANGED MY / OUR LIVES!
I “dug in” MAKING THINGS!  Things from Nature, Things from JUNK (left on the place).  EVEN MADE A “JEDI” SPACE SHIP…BIG!…from old car sections.  Our daughter’s new “toy”.
And CABINS!  An 8×16 ft. Trappers Cabin and later a LIVING Willow “dome”.  Both well hidden away.  Christy’s Hide-A-Ways…AND MINE (to contemplate in).  Even dug a deepish Wading Pool in a little creek that ran by both.  Christy LOVED these places!
I wore a Loin Cloth and hand made (by wife) “Moccasins”.  Saved my ONLY PANTS for town trips.  Cardboard in my Street shoe  (the TOPS looked nice, and all I had).
Our barrel wood stove had HUGE rust holes…SMOKING THE WHOLE HOUSE when lit.  Fixed these with rusted screening and coated with Wood Ash and Salt.  “Cementing” the spots shut.
I LEARNED TO ENJOY “BEING POOR”!
Christy got her leg fractured (horse kick)…NO $$ FOR HOSPITAL!  Knew my “Medicine” for pain.  Made her crutches from tree forks.  “Cast” of salt and flour mix, on ripped old bed sheet.  SHE THOUGHT IT WAS “COOL”!
Yes, I know “poor”  AND THE WONDER OF IT!
REALLY learned to “TRUST IN THE CREATOR” during that time…AND NEVER LET GO!
Folks…many out here think they are in a “bad way”.  Many ARE!  WHOLE FAMILIES on the streets…sleeping in cars.  Miserable!
THEY / YOU CAN “MAKE IT”!
Relax  Relax  RELAX!  “Bend like a Green Reed”.  WE CAN “MAKE IT”!!!
It is a GIFT,  a TIME To LEARN!

ZZ Zip Stove

RE responds to a couple of emails about camp stoves used in his friend’s dome:

He left at 7:08 AM this morning.
Yes, we sure did.
SMALLER and MORE EFFICIENT FIRE….using the ZZStove.  I convinced him to buy one ($70.00)…a Back-Packer stove, sis. I’ve told all of this stove before. You too.  UNBELIEVABLE Stove.  Can Cook a meal with One PINE CONE (did, so know).

You oughta have SEEN his  J  O  Y  over buying this!  Just RAVES after RAVES, all nite long!   (YOU TOO should check it out)!  Please, DO SO!
The SIERRA Model.  NOT THE MORE PRICY ONE.  GB   re
2nd Email:

Think i know your stove.  Basically unfolds to 2 “legs” with a stick-up portion to hold a pot / etc. above the fire.  Super lightweight aluminum.  Right?

Had one myself.  Then realized I could do the same with 3 stones or a pressed mound of dirt (as “legs”).  So gave it to a Boy Scout.  Then eventually made a tin can “hobo” stove.  Worked darn good BUT was “tippy”.  Then, in mid ’60s bought an all brass Top O’ The Line (from Sweden) White Gas one.  WELL OVER $160.00!  In the ’60s, THAT was ALOT of $$!  I was the envy of many fellow campers, BUT it was HEAVY, Hard to FIND White Gas (almost IMPOSSIBLE today) AND you needed to lug stove AND fuel around.  Got to NOT liking it.  Gave IT away, too. Then one day I saw a SMALL write-up on the “ZZ”.  Price was right so decided to order.  LOVED IT IMMEDIATELY!  I’ve worn mine out. Not by USE but by several MOVES.  Sigh.

Told Adam of it and showed him my “old Jalopy”.  He too liked what he saw (tho no longer works) and ordered.  Mine is over 16 yrs old..they’ve Updated to EVEN BETTER!  WOW Yes, it IS “Even Better”!!!

Now to get Me one when I can.

This has a 3 way cooking “way” (so too my oldie)…9 volt battery for forced air (High Altitude cooking) and #1 no motor running.  Just as my oldie.  IDENTICAL in USE, just BETTER CONSTRUCTION…and WITHOUT Weight Gain! BETTER FRYING PAN and POT TOO!!!
I showed Adam how to get his fire FAST Started;  DRIED WEEDS!  With TINY TINY TWIGS above. VerrROOM..OFF SHE GOES! Then to “bigger” stuff.  A Pine Cone..Thick Stick…Etc.

And Does it EVER Throw out HEAT!  Enough to comfortably heat the dome (12 or 14 ft. Dia. x maybe 8 ft high, I think).

That blower TOSSES up any Smoke!  Once going, turn blower off and smoke has plenty of air below to NOT LET smoke billow…goes straight Up / Out too!

Battery lasts for HOURS and HOURS AND  H O U R S!!!  Alot easier to carry a spare in a pocket then all the Fuel these “modern” types use.  Easy to PACK OUT a tiny 9 volt then a BUNCH of LP Mini Bottles, too!

This stove is UNBELIEVABLE!
2 I’ve shared with have bought.  One a camper in Holland.  SHE LOVES LOVES LOVES it TOO!  Thanked me PROFUSELY!
I’ll try to buy another very soon.  “Depending”….aho?
ALSO, this stove is rated as USEABLE when “NO OPEN FIRES PERMITTED”!  LEGAL!
Sparks?  TINY and LOW.
The PERFECT “Run” stove (if you’re running “fancy”).  Aho?
No! Hole in top of dome NOT MADE BIGGER!   ( :

No.

BUT……..what I was shown had MANY “small” things INVOLVED.

Believe it or not, THIS OIL PROBLEM IS SMALL!
I did see a Nuclear Plant on the West Side of Florida “go”….I saw OIL go So HIGH in SHORTAGES that it would/could effect YOU getting to WORK. Literally NO money Out-Lay TO get to work UNLESS YOU MAKE EXTREME “Sacrifices” in Other areas….JUST TO FILL YOUR GAS TANK!
YOU think this “Homelessness” is ‘something’? WAIT! It will get UNBELIEVABLY WORSE.
High Gas prices can, and probably WILL H E L P be, due to this Spill….but NOT THIS SPILL ALONE! (Other factors will add to This Spill problem). Aho?

Friend,

WE ARE IN FOR A “HELL” OF A TIME! (UnLESS we get our “act” together and apologize to the Great One and TURN AWAY from the path we are now on. THEN IT WILL  S T O P !!!

Doesn’t look like enough are “hearing”, let alone DOING, to stop this madness, I’m ‘afraid’.

Sigh

Sadly, the Majority rules.

I and Mine will suffer as all the rest. Can’t say we will have a GREAT TIME while the majority have it bad. I am EFFECTED by ALL. All are.

All I can say is I, Personally, WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF. Somewhat “protected”. Saw ME and others LED TO WATER “seeps” and BIRDS BRINGING BITS OF FOOD….as I / We (DARN FEW) where Homeless, in RAGS, Filthy, Disheveled and WANDERING ABOUT…by FOOT!

Saw too, OTHERS who were in FINE SHAPE! The ones who “joined” the Worlds’ Government.

THEY “had it made”…IN THIS LIFE.
“WE” “had it made…AFTER this life.

Aho?

THERE IS NO DEATH!

Just a change of body(s). Aho?

“Big Belt”?

Yup…but think on that a bit……The “Trip to the Wood Shed” had a LOVE REASON for it! Aho?
